چکیده

It was reported that hyperglycemia may be elicited in the intact dog (Sutherland and Rail, 1960; Posternak ci at., 1962) and rat by administration of the cyclic nucleotide, 3’, 5’-AMP,4 in doses of 10 mg/kg and greater (Northrop and Parks, 1964a). Also, it was shown with the isolated perfused rat liver that hyperglycemia, glycogenolysis and a-glucan phosphorylase5 activation can be caused by perfusion with blood containing 3’, 5’-AMP. The lowest concentration of cyclic nucleotide that induced hyperglycemia with this preparation was 0.002 mg/ml of blood (Northrop and Parks, 1964a,b). The effects of 3’, 5’-AMP in tissues appear to be terminated by the action of a magnesium-activated phosphodiesterase that catalyzes hydrolysis at the 3’ position and forms adenosine 5’-phosphate (Sutherland and Rail, 1958; Drummond and Perrott-Yee, 1961; Butcher and Sutherland, 1962). This enzyme was found in many tissues and was inhibited by the methyl xanthines. Theophyiline was the most potent of the methyl xanthines tested; the inhibition was competitive

Effects of various drugs on myocardial cyclic AMP.

Effects of norepinephrine, J3-adrenergic blocking agents, theophylline ethylenediamine (TEDA) and digoxin on myocardial cyclic AMP concentration and those of various vasodilators both on myocardial cyclic AMP in vivo and phosphodiesterase (PDE) activity in vitro were investigated by radioimmunoassay of cyclic AMP. The mean concentration of myocardial cyclic AMP was 0.318 p mole/mg in the left v...

Effect of Curcumin, an Active Substance of Turmeric, on Acute Hyperglycemia Induced by Ketamine-Xylazine: Role of α2-Adrenergic Receptor

Objective- Medicinal plants and their active constituents are frequently used components for treating hyperglycemia. In the present study, the effect of curcumin was investigated on acute hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia induced by ketamine-xylazine in rats. To explore the possible mechanism, yohimbine (an α2-adrenergic receptor antagonist) was also used. Design...

Effects of catecholamines and adrenergic-blocking agents on plasma and urinary cyclic nucleotides in man.

Studies were performed in healthy volunteers to determine the effects of catecholamines and adrenergic-blocking agents on plasma and urinary levels of adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cyclic AMP) and guanosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cyclic GMP). Plasma cyclic AMP rose in response to infusions of the beta-adrenergic agent, isoproterenol, or in response to infusions of either epinephrine or norepinep...

The effects of Adrenergic agents on the dopaminergic-induced sniffing

There is evidence indicating that adrenoceptor mechanisms may influence some of the behaviors in rat. However the role of adrenoceptor agents on sniffing has not been identified. In the present study, the influence of adrenoceptor agents on sniffing induced by apomorphine and amphetamine has been investigated. Male Albino rats, weighing 150-250 g were used for all experiments. The behavior wa...
